Just as quickly as it began, the Track & Field season has come to an end at The Village School. As the State team returned from Waco there was plenty to celebrate from both the Regional and State Track Meets.

Regional Meet Recap

The Village Girls had several State Qualifiers at the Regional Meet with Mariana Chapa placing first in the 1600m and second in the 800m, Lauren Brown placing first in the 100m, Demi Omotoso placing fourth in the 200m and fourth in the Long Jump, and the Girls 4x200m (Roza, Milan, Lauren, Demi) finishing second. On the Boy's side, Jesse Imemba finished first in the High Jump setting a new school record at 6’5" while placing fourth in the 200m, and Rohan Takkar placed fourth in the 3200m. The Boys also had a relay place with the 4x100m team (Nicholas, Preston, Tefe, Jesse) finishing fourth. Overall it was a successful Regional Meet with several athletes qualifying to compete at the State Championship Meet.

State Championship Meet Recap

The Vikings brought home two gold medals at this year's State Championship Track Meet. Mariana Chapa won the 1600m race for the girls while Jesse Imemba jumped a remarkable 6’8" to set a new school and meet record and finish first in the Boy's High Jump! The team also saw Chapa place third in the 800m, Lauren Brown place fifth in the 100m, and Demi Omotoso place eighth in the Long Jump. The two team relays, the Girls 4x200m (Roza, Milan, Lauren, Demi) and the Boys 4x100m (Nicholas, Cyrus, Tefe, Jesse) both earned a sixth-place finish. 

With the 2023 season at its end, we thank our seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program and we eagerly await to see the returning team again next year!
