Village Boys Soccer Concludes Preseason Play
The Village boys soccer team has wrapped up its preseason schedule, finishing with an overall record of 3–5–1. Despite facing several challenges—including injuries, players resting, and multiple athletes balancing club soccer practices, games, and showcases—the Vikings competed consistently throughout the preseason.
With a roster of 30 players, the coaching staff used the preseason as an opportunity to evaluate depth and versatility. Between 18 and all 30 players saw action in every match, with many athletes playing multiple positions across the field.
“It was beneficial to move guys around and see how different players have certain chemistry with one another,” said head coach Mouro. “Putting players in uncomfortable situations now could really help us later in the season.”
The preseason provided valuable opportunities for player development, lineup experimentation, and building team chemistry as the squad prepares for district competition.
The Village Vikings now turn their focus to the start of district play. The Vikings will open district action on Friday, January 16, against St. Pius. The junior varsity match is scheduled to kick off at 5:00 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 7:00 p.m.
